ESTELLE MENNIE (nee PERREAULT) May 11, 1917 - December 28, 2010 Peacefully on December 28, 2010, Estelle Mennie passed away at the Pembina Place Mennonite Personal Care Home. Estelle spent her life in Fort Garry. She grew up on the family farm off Pembina Highway just west of the Bishop Grandin interchange. She attended Grandin School on Pembina Highway. Estelle was one of the first chick-sexers in Winnipeg spending a number of years at Miller's Hatchery on Main Street. She and her husband Les resided on University Crescent and Manahan Avenue throughout their lives. They were both active in the St. Vital Catholic Church spending much time helping to develop the parish through fundraising activities such as turkey shoots and bingo. Over this time they became close friends of the Morand family and often played cards with Reverend Father Morand. Estelle loved her home and spent countless hours making sure the garden was just right . She was predeceased by her husband Les in 1987; parents Edmond and Virginie Perreault; sisters Edmee Pietryk, Elmire Preston; and her two brothers Edward and Celestin Perreault. Estelle leaves to cherish her memory nephew James Pietryk (Carol), nieces Lynda Boone (Joe), Jocelyn Tetreault (Mark) and Patricia Gallagher, great nieces, great-great nieces and nephews. A cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date. The family thanks the nurses and support staff of Pembina Place for the caring attention they gave to Estelle.
